City of Alton Crime Mapping Project (SafeCity™)



Kinetic Solutions implemented the company's award-winning crime mapping website, SafeCity™, for the City of Alton, Illinois, allowing law enforcement officials to utilize the crime analysis and reporting features.  This will provide the Alton Police Department with the necessary tools to more effectively allocate their police resources and examine their efficiency and effectiveness.  The Alton SafeCity™ also assists the city's Nuisance Abatement strategy, part of the Department of Justice's Weed and Seed program.  SafeCity™ provides police and code enforcement officials with crucial information on police activities,  calls for service, code complaints and any subsequent violations at nuisance addresses alerting law enforcement that monitoring may be necessary.  Alton SafeCity™ can be viewed at http://64.218.68.50/alton/AltonSafeCity.

Originally developed for the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department (SLMPD), SafeCity™ provides St. Louis residents with current data on police activities, including service calls and arrests, within the metropolitan area.  Site visitors accessing the public site through the Internet can enter a street address and rapidly receive a complete and detailed list of police activities in the specified neighborhood. Both the St. Louis and Alton SafeCity™ crime mapping sites include various reports on homicides, sexual assaults, robberies, strong arm robberies, assaults, thefts, residential and non-residential burglaries, vandalisms, arson disturbances, calls for service, investigations and alarms within the metropolitan area.
